SO! About this Cornhuskin' business...I'm sure half the class has already blogged about it but I'm going to anyway!!
I don't know how excited I was for Cornhuskin.' So far, the upperclassmen were being ridiculous, our cans had been stolen, dances were continuously being changed, and I am not a big fan of late night practices. My close friends on my hall weren't participating in the tradition, and I wasn't sure if our part of the performance would look nice at all. However, then Cornhuskin week began and...things got a little better. I FINALLY met my Big Sis for the first time, and that night, the first hall raid on Vann was...INDESCRIBABLY AWESOME. There was Can Art, which was...pretty fun as well. Then there was the President's raid which was okay, but was improved by doughnuts!! Then the actual day of Cornhuskin.' I made it to the parade just in time to march with my fellow freshmen and I had tons of fun making all the noise I could, singing, marveling at the Ford Mustangs in the parade, and taking numerous pictures that ended up on Facebook. Later that night, Cornhuskin' started. I won't go into details because I'm assuming most people went, saw it online, or heard about. However, I will say that I am truly happy that I participated in the tradition. It was cold, but it was so cool watching all of the performances while screaming my head off, literally trying to loose my voice! Esp. during the proposal, and of course during the results! I was so proud of my freshman class...we beat several classes in various categories and we even came in first in one. Our step was loved...and I loved the fist pumping dance Whitney and I did in the back. ...Although I still believe the Juniors should've won overall, everyone did a great job, and I do intend on participating next year.
