A couple of college guys, soccer, and some monolouges
So last Saturday was interesting. ...or maybe it was Friday. nope nope...it was Friday. Okay, so Friday, was interesting. After being dragged for no reason to a Flag Football practice in which I could not participate, after mistaking several ant bites on my back for an allergic reaction due to crunches done in the grass which I'm probably allergic to, and our annual dinner at Beansprout Chinese restaurant, my friend's and I retreated to a friend's dorm to await the arrival of her mysterious guy friends. Now, the story around these guy friends is one that would make any college mother's toes curl. We're all adults here, so I'll come out and say it, we were at the 'notorious' FUBAR club on college night when my friend met this guy, Mike, who she thought was French. By the end of the night, Mike had not only danced with my friend, but he had stolen a kiss or two, and had some digits; if you know what I mean... Well, Mike would not let my friend go! He kept calling and texting her and he even met her at her job. Now my friend's and I weren't all too happy; I saw the guy, and he was no Leonardo De Caprio, and I'd always been warned against meeting people in the club. Now, Mike and his friends were coming to Meredith for a soccer game, which I planned to sit out. So, the time came when Mike called my friend and we all rushed outside to meet the three men in the sewer smelling parking lot between Heilman and Barefoot. Faud, Zacharias, and Maud, not Mike, all from Morocco, stepped out of their BMW and Volkswagen and shook our hands. Personally, I thought Faud looked the best, but anyway, on to the soccer field we went! ...through the dark. We ended up playing for maybe an hour or two, and it was fun! Although I need to learn how to silently curse to myself when I miss a shot, and well as learn the rules of soccer! The guys were pretty cool, and they were supportive...least when they weren't speaking French...for those of us who were 'soccer challenged.' Before 10 the guys, all in their early 20s and trying to transfer to NCSU, left after vowing a rematch. I couldn't tell you who won...I think we gave up points way before the end...! After that, three of us went to the showing of 'There's More Than Sex in this City.' The monologues, about girls' experiences revolving around sex, relationships, and other instances in college was pretty good. I enjoyed the dances as well as most of the stories. ...There was this one girl who's stories kept depressing me, especially since I'm in a loooooooong distance relationship, were about distance and something else. The ones I did enjoy included this one about people's reactions to virgins, one that I thought was about interracial relationships, one about bodily functions, and of course, this funny one known as 'Bulls eye' about well...sex and karma's ways of revenge. It felt a little awkward for my 'virgin ears' to hear about all the sex, but then I had to keep reminding myself that hey, we're in college, we're adults, so get used to it!
